the theme
The SMMTC Awake Youth group is proud to present the theme for DYFC 2024 – “Living Last”. “Living Last’ is a movement that prioritizes putting God first and others above ourselves. In a world where the message of self-love is widespread, Living Last’ is an invitation to reevaluate priorities. To counter the ‘me-first’ culture, this movement encourages the shifting of one’s focus off of the self and onto God and those around us.
This theme is inspired by the First and Greatest Commandment in Matthew 22:37-39 – “He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself”. However, this theme isn't just a set of commandments. ‘Living Last’ serves as guiding principles and values to help us foster hearts of humility, gratitude, service, and constant remembrance of God's love for us through Christ Jesus.
‘Living Last’ is not about erasing individuality but rather, understanding the beauty of surrender, unity and meaningful connection with our Creator and His creation. Choosing to prioritize God and others is willingly living our lives in submission to God’s will and fulfilling our God-ordained roles within His church. Join us as we learn how to shift the spotlight from ourselves to God and our neighbours by ‘Living Last’.
